Tips on Choosing a Slots Game
It is another few days before we get into the April online slots tournaments, so I thought I would take this week’s post and give some tips on choosing an online slots game. Because let’s face it, we slots players do not play in tournaments 100% of the time. So while we may not have a choice on the slots game being used in an online slots tournament, we do have a choice when we are not playing in a tournament.
There are a couple of statistics about a slots game that you can use. One would be the slots game’s hit frequency; the other is its payout percentage.
Hit frequency is how often the slots game pays out. A high hit frequency bespeaks of a slots game that pays out often, whereas a low hit frequency tells of a slots game that does not hit often. But the one thing to keep in mind is that hit frequency does not give the timing of when a slots game will hit; nothing tells whether it will hit back to back to back or if the hits will be spread out. Also not indicated is how much the payouts will be, whether they will be large payouts or small ones.
But speaking of payouts, that brings us to payout percentage. Payout percentage is a measure of how much a slots game pays out of the total amount of wagers it takes in in a given time period. This percentage takes into account all of the wagers made by all the players of that slots game. So say in a month a slots game takes in $100,000 and has a payout percentage of 97%. That means it will pay out $97,000 in that month. Now this does not mean that one player will win $97,000 or that you will receive 97% of your wagers back; these payouts could be large ones or small ones—it does not matter the increments so long as it pays out 97%.
While those two figures are not very concrete judges of a slots game, they can help serve as a guide. While those two figures do not guarantee anything to you as a player, they can help you to choose the slots game with the highest hit frequency or the highest payout percentage.
